Speaking: Congratulating a business colleague

Speaking: Business dialogue
Intermediate to advanced (B2-C2)

Imagine you have just come out of a business meeting where a close colleague (Harry) was very impressive. You decide to tell him what you think. Here is a possible English dialogue:

You: Harry I thought that went very well.
Harry: Thanks.
You: For a moment I thought they weren’t going to back our proposal.
Harry: Me too.
You: I thought you were absolutely right to challenge Chris Brown’s figures.
Harry: I suspected they weren’t correct. I looked at them last night and came to a different result.
You: You put our case very well. I couldn’t have put it better myself.
Harry: Thanks.
You: You really hit the nail on the head when you compared their position to going into battle without knowing what you want to achieve.
Harry: At that point Chris Brown looked very uncomfortable.
You: You can say that again!
