Your dictionaryHere are some useful websites if you are looking for a dictionary. There is also a really useful website for seeing how words are used in a sentence and an interesting website which helps you understand phrases. There are also websites about English exams, business articles in English and a link to a reading level test.

English dictionaries and thesauruses
Easy-to-use dictionary. This website gives you the phonetic spelling of words (click on ‘show IPA’) and the sound of words (click on the speaker icon).

www.wordreference.com is a great website where you can get translations of words into English and also translations of other languages into English (including Spanish, Chinese and Arabic).

Lists of similar words (synonyms). This is great for building your vocabulary. A book full of words with similar meanings is called a thesaurus.

Examples of words in sentences. This is a wonderful way of quickly seeing the different meanings of a word. This is a major difficulty for most students when they try to learn English. Highly recommended!
